Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) franchise Hobart Hurricanes have roped in New Zealand's Hayley Jensen as a replacement for the upcoming 08 edition. Jensen comes in for England's Issy Wong, who will miss the entire tournament due to an injury.

Jensen's first tryst with the Hurricanes was in WBBL 06, where she was also a replacement player and played two T20s for the Hurricanes. The 29-year-old has appeared in the WBBL for other clubs like the Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers.

In 38 WBBL matches, the all-rounder has scored 195 runs and claimed 32 wickets across five seasons.

She is coming off a strong Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham with the White Ferns clinching a bronze medal by beating hosts England.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to the Hurricanes and the WBBL this year. It was a really unusual situation were all in back in 2020 when I last played in the WBBL, but I felt really welcomed by the Hurricanes team and enjoyed my time in purple."

Overall, in 48 T20Is, she has accumulated 178 runs and picked 39 wickets. Apart from Jensen, Hobart have South Africa's Mignon du Preez and Lizelle Lee as their other overseas players.

The Hobart-based side begins their WBBL 08 campaign on October 14 against Sydney Thunder.
