We used the disrespect that we endured: Rovman Powell reflects on CPL 2022 title victory

Jamaica Tallawahs skipper Rovman Powell thinks the whole squad was hungry to perform well amid their disrespect during the CPL 2022. 

Tallawahs managed to win only four out of 10 games, and ended the league stage in the fourth position. In their last six league games, they could taste success in only one of them but qualified for the playoffs. 

The Powell-led side then secured victories in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2, to take on Barbados Royals in the final. However, they were still not expected to be a tough competitor to the Royals, who emerged as the best team in the league stage. 

In the final, the Royals posted 161 on the board, with Fabian Allen taking three wickets. In response, Tallawahs chased down the score with more than three overs to spare. Brandon King hit 83* off 50, while Shamarh Brooks slammed 47 off 33. 

In the post-match presentation, Powell credited players like Brandon King, Kennar Lewis, Fabian Allen, and Shamarh Brooks for helping him to take the team forward, despite some tough times.

"I think we used the disrespect that we endured as a motivation, to be honest. The guys were very hungry, and everything just came out right [during the final]," said Powell. 

Furthermore, Powell sees CPL title victory as a step towards the right direction. He hoped to learn as his career progresses and also thanked his family to guide him, when the things have not gone his way.
