Jamaica Tallawahs bring home the bacon as Barbados Royals were drubbed and lost by eight wickets in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022 final.

In one of the firsts, the Tallawahs became the first team to lift the CPL title after finishing fourth on the points table in the league stage.

Kings, Brooks star in run-chase

Set on the chase of 162 runs, Brandon King and Shamarh Brooks emerged as the protagonists as the duo packed a solid punch, scoring 83* and 47 runs respectively.

Tallawahs met with an early blow in the form of Kennar Lewis, who got dismissed in the first over of the innings by Kyle Mayers.

However, what ensued was an 86-run partnership for the second wicket as King and Brooks took the game away from Barbados' reach. 

After Brooks' dismissal, King did not allow the asking rate to increase, as he and Rovman Powell stitched an unbeaten 75-run stand, out of which 53 runs came from the former's bat.

Finishing the match with a six on the first ball of the 16th over, King, who was named 'Player of the Tournament', led Jamaica to their third CPL trophy.

Ramon Simmonds, who could not take a wicket in the final, was announced as the 'Emerging Player' of the CPL 2022.

Allen, Gordon stifle Barbados 

Opting to bat first, the Royals threw caution to the wind, ending their powerplay at 63 for one.

However, Jamaica made a comeback in the game, as Allen dismantled the opposition's top-order with his three-fer that included the wicket of Azam Khan, who scored a 40-ball 51.

Nicholson Gordon matched up to Allen's brilliance, as a remarkable display of bowling in the slog overs fetched him three wickets.

Barbados scored 161/7 in 20 overs, which proved to be not enough in the end.
