Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) have handed under-19 England stars Tom Aspinwall and Matthew Hurst rookie contracts. Aspinwall, 18, made a name for himself in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022, picking up seven scalps including a two-wicket effort in England's loss to India in the final.

Overall, the allrounder has represented England in 18 youth matches, which include his six-wicket haul against Sri Lanka U-19 in July, in his only U19 Test.

Aspinwall has played for Lancashire's 2nd XI three times this season, scoring 21 runs and claiming two wickets.

On the hand, Hurst made his England U19 debut in July 2022 and featured in one ODI and two Tests. He notched up his first Youth ton against Sri Lanka U19 as well.

In comparison to Aspinwall, Hurst playing for Lanchasire's 2nd XI has amassed 224 runs in four matches.

Lancashire Director of Cricket, Mark Chilton called the duo exciting talents in his statement.

"Tom and Matthew are a pair of really exciting young talents and we are pleased to offer them their first rookie contracts.

They have performed consistently at a high standard in both our Second XI and for England Under 19s during the last 12 months and they are fully deserving of this opportunity."
