Barbados Royals secured a 36-run victory over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Match 24 of the Caribbean Premier League on Wednesday (21 September) at Guyana.

Azam, Tector guide Royals to a competitive total

Invited to bat first, Royals lost Rahkeem Cornwall (6) early. Then, the in-form Kyle Mayers surprisingly scored 16 off 22 balls, before getting dismissed in the eight over to Akila Dananjaya.

However, the youngsters' Harry Tector and Azam Khan were clinical to steer the team at a brisk rate. Tector hit an unbeaten 47 off 44, while Azam delivered a quickfire knock of 64 off 42 balls, which propelled Royals to a total of 156.

Mujeeb, Young secure a clinical victory for Royals

In response to the chase, the experienced Andre Fletcher and Evin Lewis provided an impressive start to the Patriots team. Unfortunately, Mujeeb Ur Rahman broke their 46-stand by sending Fletcher (20) back to the hut.

Soon, Sherfane Rutherford (9) and Lewis (41) were dismissed as well, which put Patriots under the pump. Although Dewald Brevis (21) tried well to hold the team, his wicket certainly opened the floodgates and Royals restricted them for 120/10.

Rahman and Nyeem Young scalped three wickets each for the Royals to register their seventh victory of the season.

Brief Scores:

Barbados Royals- 156/3 (20)

Azam Khan 64 (42), Harry Tector 47* (44);
