Glenn Maxwell terms Tim David a unique talent in Australia's T20I setup

On expected lines, Australia added swashbuckling finisher Tim David to their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He is also set to make his maiden T20I appearance for the Aussies in the three-match series against India starting next week. 

Before David's much-awaited debut, experienced all-rounder Glenn Maxwell explained the qualities that make the young finisher a rare asset in the Australian T20I setup. 

Maxwell, a veteran of 221 international matches, opined that David's raw power keeps him above the rest of the Australian team. 

The Victorian also lauded David for evolving his off-side game and admitted to being impressed with his multi-dimensional hitting abilities against pace and spin. 

"One of the rare things he has which there isn't a whole lot of in Australia is just raw power. He's probably developed his game a little bit over the last two years where he's got a bit more off-side [shots] so he's not a one-dimensional hitter, he's able to clear the boundary in different areas,"

"He does it against spin and quicks which is something that's really impressive and something that impressed me during the IPL."

After recording outstanding numbers in the BBL and PSL, David showcased his finishing skills for the Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2022. Hailed as one of the fiercest hitters of the leather, David has amassed 2725 T20 runs at a marvellous strike rate of 163.17. 

Australia's batting has been upgraded to another level with his inclusion, which is why the hosts will start as the title contenders in the World Cup.
