Middlesex County Cricket Club (MCCC) have confirmed that Indian paceman Umesh Yadav has been ruled out of the County Championship 2022 due to an injury to his quad muscle. India Test specialist Yadav will now miss the club's final two County matches against Leicestershire and Worcestershire.

Yadav suffered an injury during Middlesex's final home match at the Royal London Cup 2022 against Gloucestershire last month.

The 34-year-old flew back to India following the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical panel's advice. Due to return to London tomorrow, the Nagpur-born was deemed not fully fit to play four-day games.

Alan Coleman, Head of Men's Cricket at MCCC, wished Yadav a speedy recovery and a return to the club in the near future.

"The quality and experience he brought to the unit was clear to see, and the younger players in our squad will have benefitted from having such a high quality international player alongside them.

We wish him well for his recovery, thank him for all he did for Middlesex when he was with us, and have certainly not ruled out the possibility of Umesh returning to Middlesex again at some point in the future.”

Yadav was the club's leading wicket-taker in the RLC with 16 wickets, ahead of Luke Hollman (13). In three Division 2 matches, Yadav claimed just four wickets.
