Experienced Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza has been declared the Player of the month for August by the ICC.

In his reaction, the 36-year-old veteran was elated and admitted to being humbled on becoming the first ever cricketer from Zimbabwe to receive the honour.

Further, the swashbuckling right-handed batter expressed gratitude to his teammates, the technical staff and the Zimbabwean fans for their constant encouragement and support in the last three months.

"I'm incredibly humbled and honoured to have won the player of the month award from the ICC more humbling that I’m the first Zimbabwean to ever win such an award,"

"I would like to thank everybody who has been in the change-room with me over the past three to four months that goes out to the technical staff and to the players. Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans in Zimbabwe and overseas for all your prayers and wishes. They were well received and I’m forever grateful."

Notably, Raza has been in scintillating touch for quite a while now. The dynamic batter was the chief architect of Zimbabwe's historic ODI series victory against Bangladesh, amassing 252 runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 106.32.

Continuing his red hot form, Raza emerged as Zimbabwe's most successful batter in the India ODIs, slamming 143 runs, including a fabulous hundred in the last game, at a brilliant average of 47.66. Such incredible consistency finally reaped the rewards, as the Sialkot-born was bestowed with the prestigious Player of the month award for August.
