Bangladesh selector Habibul Bashar thinks the best of Mustafizur Rahman is yet to be witnessed on the international stage and backed him to do well in T20 World Cup 2022.

In the Asia Cup 2022, Rahman returned with a solitary wicket in two appearances at an average of 62. However, the recent white-ball series against Zimbabwe witnessed the 27-year-old emerge as the best bowler for the Tigers with nine scalps in five appearances.

If talked about his performance in 10 T20Is played this year, Rahman has only managed to pick up six wickets, which is cause of concern for the team management.

Despite his mediocre form, Bashar still thinks the team needs the experience of the left-arm pacer in the show-piece event.

"Mustafizur is a senior player and a proven campaigner. Maybe he hasn't been able to deliver as much as expected of him in overseas matches. But I think he can still give his best. In fact, the best of Mustafizur is yet to come," Bashar told the media today in Mirpur.

Mustafizur is working on his variety: Bashar

The 50-year-old stated that Rahman has been working well to add variety to his bowling to be effective in overseas conditions.

"He is working on different types of deliveries. His stock delivery is slower and cutter. But he is not relying entirely on those now. "

It is evident that Rahman broke into the scene in 2016 with his skilful slower balls and cutters, which helped him to prosper well in IPL and international cricket.
