Rashid Khan expressed his gratitude on social media after Afghanistan’s Asia Cup 2022 campaign came to an end with a winless Super Four round. The all-rounder thanked the fans for their support and also gave a special mention to India’s batting star Virat Kohli for his maiden T20I hundred.

Khan praises Virat Kohli, wishes luck to Asia Cup finalists

In his post, Khan stated that it was an honour for him to represent his country at the Asia Cup 2022 event. Notably, the team romped through their Group Stage campaign with heavy wins against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. However, the Mohammad Nabi-led side lost all their Super Four matches to crash out of the tournament before the final.

In their last match, against India, Virat Kohli registered his first T20I century and his first international ton after a gap of nearly three years. Kohli’s knock consigned Afghanistan to a 101-run defeat and brought curtains to their Asia Cup 2022 crusade.

Khan wrote:

“It was an honour to represent my country in this year’s edition of the #AsiaCup. A big thank you to the fans for all your love and support. Special mention to @imVkohli for his maiden T20I 100. Wishing PAK & SL the very best for the finals. #AsiaCup2022.”

Both Kohli and Khan are known for their on-field and off-field camaraderie. Moreover, the former Indian captain even gifted one of his bats to the all-rounder during the IPL 2022 season earlier this year.
