India’s ongoing cross-border conflict with Pakistan prompted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to suspend the IPL 2025 season for a week. As the Indian board contemplates a revised schedule and venues for the remainder of the tournament, several English players like Gujarat Titans’ Jos Buttler, Rajasthan Royals’ Jofra Archer, CSK’s Moeen Ali, RCB’s Jacob Bethell among six others have flown back to England.

However, a handful of other English players have decided not to go back to England, and have chosen Dubai in their immediate travel plans instead to consider their schedule accordingly.

England players leave India as ECB offers to host IPL

England cricketers like Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Moeen Ali and a few others have travelled back to their country as the BCCI confirmed the suspension of the IPL 2025 season in India. Few other English players have flown to Dubai instead, in a bid to plan their future schedule accordingly.

Amidst all this, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has extended a helping hand towards the BCCI. ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould has reportedly stated that England is willing to host the remainder of the IPL 2025 season in light of security concerns in India.

Earlier this week, former England captain Michael Vaughan also suggested the same, and stated that such a move would help Indian players to get acclimatised with the English conditions just before their five-match Test tour in the country next month.

Nonetheless, the BCCI has reportedly created an emergency plan, which sees three Indian venues hosting the remaining 16 matches of IPL 2025. The venues shortlisted by the Indian board are Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
