Pakistan captain Babar Azam continues to topple records as he becomes the fastest batter to score 4,500 runs in the one-day internationals, going past the landmark achieved by South African legend Hashim Amla.

The milestone came during the first innings in the first ODI against the Netherlands.

While the former South Africa captain achieved this feat in 89 one-day internationals, Babar Azam, who currently holds the numero-uno position in the ODI rankings, has reached the landmark in 88 innings.

While this is no mean feat alone, what makes it even more special is that no batter in the world has ever accomplished this feat and Babar Azam becomes the first one to do so.

The Pakistan all-format captain, on Tuesday, delivered another magnificent half-century and missed out on a hundred during the Men In Green's first one-day international (ODI) match against the Netherlands.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan was in a state of bother after losing Imam-ul-Haq early. However, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam came down on Dutch bowlers like a ton of bricks to steer Pakistan to a good total of 314 at the end of the allocated 50 overs.

While Fakhar went on to stack run-a-ball 109, Babar managed to score 74 off 85 balls with the help of six fours and one six. Following the victory in the first ODI, the Men in Green have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

The second ODI will be played at Hazelaarweg, Rotterdam on Thursday, with the final match in the series scheduled for Sunday at the same venue.
