Hardik Pandya came to bat for Mumbai Indians when they were in trouble, requiring 19 off the final six balls during Match 5 of the ongoing edition at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
The talismanic all-rounder gave their ardent supporters some hope, smashing 10 runs off the first two balls before Umesh Yadav shattered everyone by dismissing him on the following delivery.
Just after hitting a six and a four, Umesh, coming to bowl the 20th over of MI’s innings, bowled a short delivery to Hardik, who tried to pull him in an attempt to get another boundary. However, it did not happen in reality, as the timing was not great, resulting in him holing out to Rahul Tewatia at long-on.
All MI scored was two of the next three balls, leaving GT to enjoy a hard-fought six-run win over the five-time champions in front of over 80,000 crowd.

Nevertheless, this was nothing new for MI, who have been suffering a defeat more often than not in their IPL opener over the years. They will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 27 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
