Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma took center stage in a crucial encounter against the Gujarat Titans. With his blade in hand, Sharma looked determined to anchor his team's chase in the 5th match of IPL.

However, fate had a different plan as Sai Kishore, the crafty spinner from Gujarat Titans, outfoxed Sharma with a deceptive delivery in the 13th over. Attempting a sweep shot, Sharma missed the line, only to be struck on the pads in front of the stumps.

The loud appeal was enough to convince the umpire, and Sharma had to depart for a well-made 43 off just 29 balls.

This dismissal proved to be a turning point in the match. Mumbai Indians, under the leadership of Hardik Pandya on his captaincy debut, needed Sharma to anchor the innings and steer them towards victory.

However, his departure brought a slight hiccup in their pursuit of the target set by the Gujarat Titans.

Despite Sharma's dismissal, the Mumbai Indians remained confident in their chase, with young talent Tilak Varma taking the responsibility to carry forward the innings. The stage was set for a thrilling encounter as Mumbai Indians continued their quest for victory.

Earlier in the day, the Gujarat Titans had put up a competitive total of 168/6, thanks to some gritty batting performances. However, Mumbai Indians' bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, displayed their class by containing the opposition's scoring rate.

As the match progressed, the Mumbai Indians found themselves at 126 for 3 in 15 overs, still within striking distance of the target.
