Mumbai Indians fans eagerly waited to see Gerald Coetzee bowl his first ball of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday during their IPL 2024 clash at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

And the aggressive fast bowler, who hails from South Africa, did not disappoint, as he struck as early as his first over of the day.

It was a cross-seam delivery by Coetzee, who came to bowl the 12th over of Gujarat’s innings after they were put into bat first. The last ball, which was pitched at good length of 145.8 kph to Azmatullah Omarzai, was the one he got success, as Afghanistan’s all-rounder holed out to Tilak Varma at deep square leg.

As usual, Coetzee celebrated his first wicket in IPL in an aggressive manner, and so did Hardik and other MI players. The roar from Coetzee reminded many fans of the legendary Dale Steyn, who used to celebrate each of his wickets in a same manner.
