In the ongoing match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, Mustafizur Rahman provided a crucial break as he scalped the wicket of Sri Lankan batter Kamindu Mendis and provided a great start to Bangladesh. 

Sri Lanka did not have a good start to the match as they lost an early wicket of Kusal Mendis. At this crucial stage of the game, Sri Lanka needed a solid partnership to make a commendable start but Kamindu failed to deliver. 

The incident occurred during the fifth over of the Sri Lankan innings when Mustafizur bowled his first bowl of the match and scalped the wicket of in-form Kamindu Mendis, who had just scored 4 runs in this match. 

Mustafizur Rahman started bowling over the wicket. He delivered a fuller-length ball around the off-stump. Kamindu tried to play an aggressive lofted drive over the mid-off region. However, he mistimed his shot as the bat turned in his hand upon impact. 

As a result, the ball chipped and landed straight into the hands of Tanzim Hasan, who was positioned inside the circle and took a simple catch.

Earlier in the match, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to bowl against Sri Lanka in their T20 World Cup fixture in Dallas. Sri Lanka will have to bounce back and build a partnership as they are reeling at 104 for five in 15.1 overs.
