Kane Williamson, captain of New Zealand, won the toss and opted to bowl first against Afghanistan in match 14 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

In a significant development, Rashid Khan announced at the toss that they had made one change and Mujeeb Ur Rahman is not playing due to a hand injury. Noor Ahmad replaces the right-arm spinner. 

The Kiwis are playing their first match in the tournament, while Afghanistan thrashed Uganda  in their first encounter.

Afghanistan has already made a strong start to their T20 World Cup campaign. They defeated Uganda by a significant margin of 125 runs in their first match, that showcased their strength and intent in the tournament. 

New Zealand, on the other hand, arrived at this tournament with high expectations, having finished as runners-up in the 2021 edition. Their campaign in the current tournament began almost a week after its commencement, marking a significant period of anticipation for the team and its supporters.

At the moment, Afghanistan are 84/0, and will be eyeing a big total.
