Experienced right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed ensured a solid start for Bangladesh as he dismissed explosive Sri Lankan opener Kusal Mendis cheaply in the ongoing T20 World Cup contest between the two sides. Despite getting off to a brisk start, Mendis couldn't play an impactful knock, with Taskin getting him with a beautiful delivery.

The incident occurred during the third over of Sri Lankan innings when Mendis and Pathum Nissanka were gradually getting into the groove.

Taskin didn't have a great start to the over, with Mendis smashing him for two consecutive boundaries. However, he made a remarkable comeback immediately, getting the prized scalp of the swashbuckling Lankan batter.

After conceding two successive fours, Taskin bowled a length delivery just outside the off stump as Mendis tried to guide it towards the third man.

However, while doing so, he only managed an inside-edge, with the ball shattering his timber. Thus, Mendis recorded his second consecutive failure in the tournament, being dismissed for an eight-ball 10.

Taskin was pumped up after getting rid of Mendis as he expressed his emotions with a huge roar.

Meanwhile, despite losing his opening partner, Nissanka has looked sublime in the middle so far. As of writing, Sri Lanka were 48 for one in 4.5 overs, with Nissanka batting on a quick-fire 17-ball 34*.
