Rahmanullah Gurbaz had a brilliant chance to slam his maiden T20 World Cup hundred, but Trent Boult had some other plans. The Kiwi pacer nailed a perfect yorker as Gurbaz's stumps went flying.

At the closing stage of the match, Gurbaz was batting at 80 off 56 balls and needed a flurry of boundaries to reach his century. However, Boult brought all his experience and bowled a deadly yorker which destroyed the stumps. Gurbaz, who looked in ominous touch throughout the match, couldn't get a bat on it as Boult had the last laugh.

However, till the time the Afghan opener was at the crease, he played some breath-taking shots and was the lone warrior for the Afghanistan team, as they struggled for runs against the Kiwi bowlers.

Ibrahim Zadran played a scratchy innings of 44, and barring that, no other batter contributed much as Afghanistan finished on 159/6 after the 20 over mark.

Matt Henry and Boult both finished with 2-wickets a piece as the Kiwis made a late fightback on a surface which might get better as the game progresses.

This is New Zealand's first match of the T20 World Cup, while Afghanistan are playing their second match, having won the first contest against Uganda.
