Match 15 of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup will feature a Group D clash between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas on Saturday morning.

Sri Lanka, will look to recover from their opening-round defeat to South Africa, as they face Bangladesh, who will be playing their first match of the tournament.

Despite the setback in their opening match, Sri Lanka will draw confidence from their recent head-to-head record against Bangladesh. They have won four of their last five encounters, including a series victory in Bangladesh earlier this year.

Sri Lanka Probable Playing XI vs BAN

Sri Lanka's recent woes have centered around their batting depth, highlighted by the disappointing performance of their middle-order trio, Wanindu Hasaranga, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Charith Asalanka, who collectively managed only six runs in their opening match against South Africa.

However, the Sri Lankan bowling unit showed resilience, extending the game to the 17th over and claiming four wickets despite defending a meager total of 77 runs.

Sri Lanka will rely on their opening duo, Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka, to provide a strong start with a blend of aggression and stability at the top of the order against Bangladesh.

Dhananjaya de Silva's all-round capabilities will be pivotal to stabilise the innings , and he could be their X-Factor player, but it is likely that they'll go with the same playing XI.

Sri Lanka's bowling unit, their apparent strength, boasts talent and variety. The pace attack, led by Dushmantha Chameera, Dilshan Madushanka, and Matheesha Pathirana, is expected to deliver speed and accuracy.

The spin department of Lanka led by Wanindu Hasaranga and supported by Maheesh Theekshana, will aim to challenge the Bangladesh batters with their craft and precision.
