Indian keeper-batter KL Rahul had a poor outing in the ongoing second Test against South Africa, as he departed for eight in the first innings. Coming at number six, Rahul, who slammed an incredible ton in the first innings of Centurion Test, got out to a short delivery from Lungi Ngidi.
The incident occurred in the 34th over of the innings when South African captain Dean Elgar brought Lungi Ngidi back into the attack. The move paid rich dividends as the seamer got rid of Rahul on the very first ball of his new over.
It was a slightly short delivery, offering marginal room to Rahul, who went for an audacious cut shot. However, he could only edge the ball, with the ball finding shelter in South African keeper Kyle Verrynne's safe pair of hands.
This was Rahul's second consecutive failure in the Test series after he departed for four runs in the second innings of the Centurion Test.
His dismissal triggered a colossal collapse that engulfed the rest of the Indian batting unit, as the visitors lost five more wickets without scoring a run. As a result, they were bowled out for a paltry 153-run total on this eventful day.
