Jasprit Bumrah's rise to prominence in international cricket has been nothing short of spectacular. Known for his unorthodox bowling action and deadly accuracy, Bumrah has become a stalwart in the Indian bowling lineup.

However, an intriguing revelation by former RCB player Parthiv Patel sheds light on a time when Virat Kohli, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, dismissed the idea of having Bumrah in the team during IPL 2014.

Recalling the incident, Parthiv Patel revealed that during his stint with RCB in 2014, he suggested Virat Kohli consider Jasprit Bumrah for the team. However, Kohli's response was far from enthusiastic.

"Chhor na yaar. Ye Bumrah-Vumrah kya karenge?" (Leave it. What will such players do?), Virat allegedly replied.

Little did Kohli know that he was dismissing a player who would go on to become one of the best bowlers in world cricket.

Jasprit Bumrah made his IPL debut in 2013, and it was in his very first game that he showcased his talent by dismissing Virat Kohli. Despite this impressive start, Kohli remained unconvinced about Bumrah's potential for RCB in 2014.

Parthiv Patel also highlighted Bumrah's early struggles in domestic cricket, stating that discussions were ongoing in 2015 about the possibility of sending him back home mid-season. However, Mumbai Indians persisted with him, and it was Bumrah's dedication and the franchise's backing that fueled his remarkable transformation.

Fast forward to the present, and Jasprit Bumrah has established himself as a leading force in the world of cricket. Currently serving as the vice-captain of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022, the 29-year-old pacer has played 181 matches, amassing an impressive tally of 348 wickets.
