Indian wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul has praised Indian captain Rohit Sharma, highlighting what sets him apart from other captains and discussing his pivotal role in leading India to the final of the 2023 World Cup.

The Men in Blue experienced a heartbreak in the 2023 World Cup final against Australia, losing their grip — when it mattered the most — after a stellar run in the league matches and a victorious semi-final against New Zealand.

Leading from the front, Rohit Sharma emerged as the second-highest run-scorer in the prestigious tournament, providing Team India with explosive beginnings through his aggressive style. He scored 597 runs from 11 innings at an average of 54.27.

In a recent chat with MensXP, KL Rahul praised Rohit Sharma's leadership, highlighting his deep understanding of opponents' strengths and weaknesses, and his approach of personally addressing each player's needs.

“I have never seen anyone do it better than Rohit. He always knows the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition - at what stage of the game and how they play, he knows it all. Lots of success that we had in the World Cup is because of how prepared he is and how he is always two steps ahead of the game," Rahul said while praising Rohit Sharma.

Rahul further opened up about Rohit's zen-like leadership, describing how he stays cool while going to each player, briefing them on their roles and his expectations from them.

“He is also very calm and very chilled out. He goes to each player and makes sure that every player knows what their role is and what the captain is expecting from them?”

The 35-year-old has been hailed as one of the greatest leaders of the game. He has led India to two Asia Cup titles and Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles. However, he will not be leading the Mumbai Indians side in the upcoming IPL season as the franchise has announced Hardik Pandya as the new skipper.
