James Anderson's preparations for his farewell Test at Lord's next week faced a setback when rain washed out the entire second day of the Vitality County Championship match between Lancashire and Nottinghamshire at Southport. 

Anderson was included in Lancashire's squad for this match, which began on June 30, and marked his first game of the season for the Red Roses and the first since his announcement of his upcoming retirement from international cricket.

In the ongoing match, Anderson showcased his enduring skill as he took the wicket of Nottinghamshire captain Haseeb Hameed. 

Anderson delivered a ball angling towards the stumps, which Hameed played onto his timbers, which gave Anderson his first wicket of the 2024 season. This match is Anderson's first appearance for Lancashire since May 2023, when he took two first-innings wickets against Somerset.

The GOAT seamer went to scalp five more wickets as he completed his five-fer inside the first 7 overs he bowled. 

At the time of writing, they have lost six wickets at 78 runs with Ben Slater and Calvin Harrison present at the crease.
