Ajinkya Rahane, the star Indian Batter has signed for Leicestershire for One-Day Cup and five County Championship matches. The stylish batter was deemed to play for Leicestershire in County Championship in 2023, but had to back down at the last moment due to his selection for India in World Test Championship Final.

Rahane will join the team in mid-July and will be a big boost for the club after the likely departure of  Wiaan Mulder during that time. Leicestershire are the defending champions of the One-Day Cup and club will be hoping that he can repeat the exploits of his last stint.

The former Indian batter himself is quite excited with the opportunity to represent Leicestershire again and is hoping to contribute to the team's success this year.

"I'm really excited to have another opportunity to come to Leicestershire. I've built a strong rapport with Claude and [head coach] Alfonso [Thomas], and I'm looking forward to playing for the club this summer.

"I followed the team's results last year and was very impressed with what I saw. I'm hoping to enjoy my cricket and contribute to more success for the club this season."

Rahane last played for India in July 2023 in the two-match Test series against West Indies, and was last seen in action in Indian Premier League 2024.
