Khawaja dismissed by Siraj [Source: @anuragdas_gupta/X.Com]
After getting sold to the Gujarat Titans on the mega auction on Sunday, Mohammed Siraj had his tails up as he looked sharp and lethal and bowled a deadly bouncer to get the wicket of Usman Khawaja as Australia lost their 4th wicket.
Australian team had already lost 3 wickets on Day 3 evening, chasing a mammoth 534. Jasprit Bumrah did the damage in the evening, as India could smell a famous win at Perth. Despite the 3 wickets, the Perth surface had eased out and Australia were expected to show a bit of more resilience, but that didn't happen.
After a couple of nervy defences, Khawaja's patience gave up as Siraj bowled a perfectly executed bouncer and it shocked Khawaja who miscued his pull and Rishabh Pant took a simple catch as the home team stared at an embarrasing defeat. The hosts will hope that Travis Head and Steve Smith have something up their sleeves as Indian bowlers are firing all guns blazing.
Kohli, Jaiswal's century puts india in driving seat
India had a 46-run lead heading into the second innings and they needed to bat well after the disaster-class in the first innings. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal, alongside KL Rahul added 201 runs for the opening wicket and laid the foundation for his side.
The young southpaw scored 161 and it was followed by a masterclass from Virat Kohli, who batted like vintage Virat and smashed an unbeaten 100 off 143 balls as India have set an improbable total for the Aussie to chase.
Day 3 ended with India scalping three quick wickets as Nathan McSweeney, Pat Cummins and Marnus Labuschagne departed cheaply.
