The former Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper, KL Rahul has been snapped by Delhi Capitals for 14 crore amount in the ongoing IPL 2025 mega auction. A veteran of the league, KL Rahul has been a consistent performer, but had a dip in form during last season.

Notably, KL Rahul has played for several teams, including the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants. Despite being a consistent performer at the international level, it wasn't untill the 2018 season that he really flourished.

He scored a 14-ball fifty that season and since then he never looked back and scored truckloads of runs.

Bidding war for KL Rahul

KL Rahul came up and immediately the bidding war started between RCB and KKR. Both the teams needed a skipper and hence they went relentless on him.

The paddle didn't go down as both the teams countered with their own bid. The bid reached 6.50 as RCB hesitated, but decided to go ahead. The bid crossed the 10 crore mark with both the sides going all out for the former LSG skipper. DC and CSK entered the race out of nowhere as RCB took a back seat at 12.25 crore. Eventually, DC kept their calm and snapped him for 14 crore.

KL Rahul IPL career

The stylish batter made his IPL debut in 2013, and he switched teams between SRH and RCB as he found it difficult to settle in the squad. He had a breakout season in 2016 for RCB, when the franchise reached the finals.

In that season, he scored 397 runs in 14 matches and became a star in the league. However, the turning point came in 2018 when he joined Punjab. He became the sole star of the team and despite Punjab's failure as a unit,, KL stood tall and was their leading run-scorer throughout the 4 seasons that he played.

In 2022, he joined the newly formed LSG side owned by the Sanjiv Goenka group. As the captain of the side, he led them to the playoffs in the first two seasons, but the team had a disasterclass in 2024 and he was released from the squad.
