David Miller, the Proteas superstar and one of the best finishers in modern era was bought by LSG for 7.50 crore amount in the ongoing IPL mega auction on Sunday. He has an excellent track record in IPL and the team will flourish with the arrival of the South African great.

Having played for the Gujarat Titans for the last three seasons, the franchise sprung a surprise by not retaining him, but their loss has become someone else's gain as David Miller's addition will boost the middle-order.

Bidding war for David Miller

As soon as Miller's name was announced, Gujarat titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru started the bidding war. RCB pushed for the powerful batter as they needed a finisher in the side. RCB had the bid at 5.25 crore and Delhi entered the race for the Proteas star.

RCB then placed a bid of 6.75 as Delhi continued to chase Miller. The final bid was 7.25 crore, but just as the hammer was about to go down, LSG entered the race, and placed the final bid at 7.50 crore. GT didn't use the RTM card and LSG bought their finisher.

David Miller IPL Career and stats

Miller's IPL career started in 2012 and in that season, he only played 6 matches. However, the next season was his turning point as playing for Punjab Kings, he smashed 418 runs, including a stunning 38-ball ton Vs RCB, which sealed an impossible game for the franchise.

Post 2013, he continued to excel in the IPL, but also had three dull seasons between 2016-2018. As a result, his stocks dipped, and he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 75 lakh ahead of the IPL 2020 season.

Despite having little to no success with the side, the newly formed Gujarat Titans took a gamble on him and bought him in the 2022 auction. He repaid the faith by scoring 482 runs as Gujarat won the IPL title.
