Ajinkya Rahane was the pillar of India's batting line-up for almost a decade and has played plenty of match-winning knocks at the international level over the years. However, inconsistency has brought him out of national selectors radar and he has also not been able to score big in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024. 

In the final though, against Vidarbha, he has stepped up for Mumbai and has scored a crucial fifty on a tough track to take 41-time champions to safer shores. Mumbai were bowled out for 224 in the first innings but in reply, Vidarbha could only muster 105 runs.

In the second innings too, Mumbai lost two early wickets but Rahane has showed his class yet again in difficult situation and has brewed up a fine partnership with Musheer Khan.

Rahane got to his fifty with a glorious drive through covers on the first delivery of the 43rd over in 88 balls with whole Wankhede and Mumbai camp applauding the captain with standing ovation. Rahane has been a great leader at the international level too, and under his leadership India won the famous series in Australia in 2021.
