Cometh the hour, cometh the man! Shardul Thakur has yet again delivered in a game where his side's back was up against the wall. The Mumbai all-rounder has hit a blistering half-centuries against Vidarbha in Ranji Trophy Final 2024.

Coming out to bat at 111-6, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder stemmed two brief partnerships with Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian, before cutting himself loose during his unbeaten stand with Tushar Deshpande.

The 32-year-old Shardul Thakur slammed a 37-ball half-century, where he notched six boundaries and two maximums - one of which came against the left-arm spin of Aditya Sarwate.

Against the left-arm tweaker, the prolific cricketer went down the ground, to the pitch of the ball and then slogged it over the bowler's head for a sixer over long-on.

Interestingly, the prolific bowling all-rounder slammed a century in Mumbai's last game during the semifinal clash versus Tamil Nadu, when his team were crawling at 106-7.

At the time of publishing, Mumbai - after putting in to bat first - have got bundled out for 224, courtesy Shardul Thakur's supremely impressive 75.

Earlier in the game, Prithvi Shaw (46) and Bhupen Lalwani (37) gave the team an electrifying start of 81 runs, but the stand was broken by Yash Ravisingh Thakur. Meanwhile, well-liked Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas yet again failed to out up a mark in the Ranji Trophy 2024.

For Vidarbha, Harsh Dubey and Thakur shared three wickets between them, and Umesh Yadav two wickets in the first innings.
