Jasprit Bumrah cannot stop taking wickets. The Indian seamer has been in top form throughout 2024 and continues to mesmerise the fans with his brilliant bowling. He had a stellar Test series against England, earlier this year, and is making a light work of the Bangladesh batting unit in the ongoing Test.

By capturing the wicket of Bangladesh seamer, Hasan Mahmud, Bumrah became the sixth-Indian pacer to bag 400 wickets in international cricket.

Apart from Bumrah, the other pace bowlers who achieved this feat are Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Ishant Sharma. Regarding matches, Bumrah is also the quickest, having completed the feat in just 196 games.

At the international level, Bumrah has an average of 21.01 across formats, with a strike-rate of 33.28

Bumrah’s 400th wicket: Hasan Mahmud bamboozled!

Hasan Mahmud, who bagged a fifer in the first innings for Bangladesh, became Bumrah’s 400th victim. Bumrah bowled a length ball on the stumps and it threatened to nip back in but seamed away at the last moment to get the outside edge. The ball was safely pouched at second slip by Virat Kohli.

Bangladesh rocked by Bumrah and other bowlers

Bumrah started the day for India with the wicket of Shadman Islam. What followed was total carnage from him and Akash Deep, as the Bengal pacer ripped through the other batters, and created havoc in the minds of the Bangladesh batters.

Apart from Shadman and Mahmud, Bumrah also picked up the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim, as the Bangladesh team have been jolted in the first innings. They still trail by 263 runs and need 63 runs to avoid the follow-on.
