'40 Over Ise Out Nahi Karna': Sarfaraz Ahmed Trolls Babar Azam In Pakistan's Champions Cup

Babar Azam is a classical ODI player, who loves to take his time in the middle. However, this approach has gotten old-fashion and a strike-rate of 80 in this format doesn't work nowadays. Despite boasting stellar numbers in the 50-over format, Babar's strike-rate always comes under scrutiny.

In the ODIs, he strikes at 88, while in the T20I format, he has below-average stats, and strikes at 129. Whenever Babar plays, it is guaranteed that he will score big runs, but that comes in at cost of his poor strike-rate. Often, he fails to rotate the strike, and that puts the pressure on the scoreboard. As a result, the required rate climbs up, which then puts the pressure on his team.

Sarfaraz Ahmed's brutal dig at Babar's strike-rate

In the ongoing Champions Cup match between Stallions and Dolphins, Babar started on the positive note, but then came his usual tempo as he slowed down. At one stage, he was 13 off 10, and in the next 22 deliveries, he could only churn out 10 runs as pressure piled on the side, who were off to a solid start.

During Babar's innings, his former captain, and opposition player, Sarfaraz Ahmed, trolled Babar Azam for his strike-rate and told his bowlers not to dismiss him, and keep him at the crease till the 40th over.

Babar trying to find his lost form

Babar is arguably Pakistan’s best player in terms of talent, but he has failed to deliver the goods in the year 2024. Babar had a poor Test match against Australia and then struggled in the T20 World Cup as Pakistan crashed out of the group stage.

Things got worse in the Bangladesh Test series where he could only score 64 runs in 4 innings and as a result, he slipped out of the top-10 in the ICC rankings. Pakistan suffered a crushing series defeat, and Babar, alongside Shan Masood, was blamed for the loss.

However, the ongoing Champions Cup provides Babar a great opportunity to get some runs under his belt before the England Tests commence next month.
