In an unfortunate event, India's prominent fast bowler Mohammed Siraj walked off the ground after sustaining an injury during the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The pacer picked up a left knee injury while fielding near the boundary. Soon after throwing the ball, Siraj was attended by the team physio before limping off the ground.

The incident occurred during the 23rd over of Bangladesh's first innings when Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das were trying to form a consolidating stand following the early jitters. After the duo frustrated the Indian pacers with grit and determination, captain Rohit Sharma brought Ravindra Jadeja into the attack.

The veteran left-arm spinner started his spell with a full-length delivery outside the off stump, inviting Shakib Al Hasan for a sweep shot. The talismanic southpaw accepted his invitation gleefully, getting down on one knee and nailing the sweep shot towards the fine leg.

As Mohammed Siraj ran to stop the ball from the boundary, the speedster put up a valiant effort to save two runs for his side. Although he succeeded in his mission, his awkward fall on the ground led to an unfortunate knee injury.

The Hyderabad pacer experienced severe pain in his left knee as the team physio came to treat him near the ropes. However, despite his efforts, Siraj showed no signs of improvement, eventually hobbling off the ground with agonising pain.

Will Siraj's Absence Haunt India In Chennai Test?

Siraj's absence could be a huge setback for team India in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. The right-arm pacer looked sharp with the red cherry, picking up the crucial wicket of the opposition captain Najmul Hossain Shanto

India will be left with four proper bowling options if he doesn't return to action. In such a scenario, the hosts will need Bumrah and Akash Deep to fire on all cylinders and capitalise on Chennai's seam-friendly conditions.
