Team India ramped-up proceedings against Bangladesh as cricket made its return to Kanpur’s Green Park for Day 4 of the rain-marred second Test match.

Here’s the timeline of how IND vs BAN panned out in Kanpur:

IND vs BAN Highlights: Mominul’s Ton Saves Grace For Tigers Against Bumrah, Siraj

Resuming at 107-3 in 35 overs, Bangladesh lost overnight batter Mushfiqur Rahim to an angling scorcher from Jasprit Bumrah. Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin also scythed through Bangladesh’s batting order to have the visitors enveloped at 233 in 74.2 overs.

Amidst Bangladesh’s batting debacle, unbeaten number three Mominul Haque kept defying the Indian bowlers from one end by top-scoring with a fluent 107*.

For India, Bumrah snared the wickets of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam in one of his return spells to bag figures of 3-50. Mohammed Siraj got the key wicket of Litton Das, courtesy of some sensational fielding brilliance from Rohit Sharma to finish with 2-57.

Ravichandran Ashwin also chipped in with two scalps, including that of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (31) and senior man Shakib Al Hasan (9). Ravindra Jadeja’s lone wicket of Khaled Ahmed helped him complete 300 Test scalps to become only the seventh Indian bowler to scale the landmark figure.

IND vs BAN Highlights: Jaiswal, KL Rahul's Swift 50s Catalyze India’s Speedy Batting

In pursuit of a result, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up their 50-run partnership in just three overs to record the fastest team fifty in Test history. Sharma launched three sixes and a boundary in his 11-ball 23 before getting cleaned up by Mehidy Hasan Miraz at 55-1. Jaiswal, meanwhile, notched up his sixth Test half-century by smearing 72 runs from just 51 balls with 12 boundaries and a couple of sixes.

The Indian team also rushed to its first 100-run total in just 10.1 overs to break their own world record from a year ago. Following the successive dismissals of Jaiswal, Shubman Gill (39 off 36) and Rishabh Pant (9 off 11) to Hasan Mahmud and Shakib Al Hasan, middle-order batters Virat Kohli (47 off 35) and KL Rahul (68 off 43) shared 87 swift runs together for the fifth wicket to ensure Team India blitzed past Bangladesh’s first innings total in less than a session’s worth of overs.

Visiting spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan fought back for Bangladesh by taking four wickets each, before Rohit Sharma declared the Indian innings at 285-9 in 34.4 overs with a lead of 52 runs in the bank.

IND vs BAN Highlights: Ravi Ashwin Takes Two Late Wickets As IND Sniff Victory

Left to survive the final hour of Day 4, Bangladesh lost opening batter Zakir Hasan as well as night watchman Hasan Mahmud to Ravichandran Ashwin (2-14) to reach 26-2 by stumps.

With Shadman Islam (7* off 40) and Mominul Haque (0*) still batting at the crease, Bangladesh will resume Day 5, trailing India by another 26 runs.
