India's swashbuckling opener Yashasvi Jaiswal enjoyed stellar success with the bat, as he hammered a sensational fifty in the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park in Kanpur. However, the batter missed a golden opportunity to become India's fastest Test centurion, with Hasan Mahmud castling him at a crucial juncture of the match.

After two consecutive abandoned days, the game resumed this morning, with Bangladesh restarting their first innings. The Indian bowlers put up a superb collective effort to reduce the visitors to a paltry 233-run total. Despite Mominul Haque hitting a valiant century, Bangladesh couldn't even breach the 250-run mark, which seemed like a cake walk for them at one stage.

In response, India had a blistering start to their innings, with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal adding 55 runs in just 3.5 overs. After Mehidy dismissed Rohit, Jaiswal kept the scoreboard ticking alongside Shubman Gill, as the stylish batting duo frustrated the visitors with their flamboyant stroke-play.

However, when it seemed Jaiswal would become India's fastest Test centurion, Hasan Mahmud castled him against the run of play. From around the wicket, Mahmud bowled a good length delivery that stayed a bit low after pitching.

As the explosive southpaw tried to play a defensive shot, the ball stayed incredibly low, beating him on his defence and shattering the timber. While Bangladesh were relieved after his dismissal, the batter was heartbroken for missing out on a memorable ton.

Rishabh Pant Joins Shubman Gill To Steady The Ship For India

After Jaiswal was cleaned up by Mahmud, India's wrecker-in-chief Rishabh Pant joined Shubman Gill in the middle. At the time of writing, India were 137 for two, with Pant and Gill batting on 4* and 36*, respectively.
