Travis Head, Australia’s explosive opener, was dismissed on 29 runs by Mohammed Siraj in the 3rd ODI held at Sydney. With the third failure in the series, fans called Head washed and trolled him for underwhelming scores.

Head has always been India’s arch-nemesis, having scored a match-winning hundred in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. However, the tables have turned in 2025.

Travis Head no longer a threat to India?

Meanwhile, in the 3rd ODI held at Sydney, Travis Head opened the innings for Australia and looked steady, hitting 29 runs with 6 boundaries.

However, the opener tried one shot too many as he slashed a late cut off a back-of-a-length delivery from Mohammed Siraj.

But this time, he mistimed it straight to Prasidh Krishna at the backward point, leading to his dismissal on 29 off 25 balls. This marks Head’s third straight failure in the series.

In the first 2 ODIs, he scored 8 and 28, respectively, failing to make any noticeable impact. Naturally, fans trolled Travis Head heavily on social media.

Many called him a fluke player, while others feel the opener’s peak has passed, and he is no longer a threat to India.

"Travis Head’s form has sunk badly this year. At this rate he is soon closer to becoming liability and an uncertainty for T20WC as well as ODI WC. CA🇦🇺 also is not like BCCI🇮🇳 to warrant him a place on the basis of past performances" - @AshesKP

That being said, the 3rd ODI is a dead rubber game, as Australia have already sealed the series with a 2-0 lead. Regardless, India are playing for their pride and to avoid a clean sweep. At 10 overs, the Aussies had 63 runs on the board at the loss of 1 wicket.
