Harshit Rana, India's promising pacer, has called it an honour to be able to play all formats for India. He added that he has a special love for the ODI format.

Rana's fast track into the Indian team without a significant record in domestic cricket has irked a lot of fans and critics. In less than 12 months since Gautam Gambhir took up charge as head coach, Rana found himself playing Test, ODI and T20I regularly.

Harshit Rana clears the air on controversy over all-format tag

While fans have their doubts over Harshit Rana's credentials, the right-arm fast bowler is enjoying this phase of his career.

Ahead of the 3rd ODI at Sydney, Rana spoke to Fox Cricket and said playing for India is a huge honour. While he enjoys playing all formats, the ODI is special to him.

“I love playing all formats. It's an honor to play for Team India, but personally, I love ODI cricket more," Rana said.

That being said, Harshit Rana was chosen over Arshdeep Singh in the 3rd ODI as India made 2 changes. Prasidh Krishna came in for Arshdeep, while Nitish Reddy was ruled out with injury, paving the way for Kuldeep Yadav.

Harshit Rana has failed to impress in the ODI series

While Harshit Rana loves to play the ODI format, his performance in the ongoing series against Australia hasn't been up to the mark.

For a bowler with a pace of over 140 kph, he should've thrived. However, in 2 games, Rana has picked only two wickets with an economy of over 6.

Even with the bat, he has scored 25 runs in 2 innings combined. Overall in 7 ODIs, Harshit Rana has picked 12 wickets at a 24.41 average and 6.06 economy.
