Zimbabwe fans have a reason to celebrate as 39-year-old leg-spinner Graeme Cremer is making a comeback to international cricket after seven years away. The Zimbabwe Cricket Board announced a 15-man squad on Friday for the upcoming Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Afghanistan, which will be played in Harare on October 29 and 31, and November 2.
Graeme Cremer makes long-awaited return
The selectors have largely kept the same team that recently helped Zimbabwe qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, showing faith in the players who performed well. The only change is the inclusion of Cremer, who replaces pace bowler Trevor Gwandu.
Cremer last played for Zimbabwe in 2018 before stepping away from cricket. During his break, he moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where his wife works as an airline pilot, and he took up golf.
Earlier this year, he returned home and started playing local cricket again, hoping to earn another shot at representing his country. His determination has now paid off.
Team captain Sikandar Raza will lead a confident and balanced side, mixing seasoned players with promising youngsters. Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani will lead the fast bowling attack, while Brendan Taylor continues his return to international cricket as wicketkeeper. Rising talents such as Brian Bennett, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brad Evans, and Tashinga Musekiwa have all kept their spots after strong performances in recent matches.
Meanwhile, Veteran all-rounder Sean Williams remains unavailable due to personal reasons.
