Kyle Jamieson ruled out of NZ vs ENG ODI series due to injury
In its official statement, NZC revealed that Kyle Jamieson wouldn't play the upcoming ODI series between New Zealand and England after experiencing stiffness in his left side. The tall pacer sustained the injury while training at Bay Oval, the venue for the first ODI in Mount Maunganui.
NZC also stated that Jamieson would return to Christchurch for further assessment of his injury, aiming to make his comeback for the West Indies series in November. The cricket board will announce a replacement for Jamieson after the first round of matches of the Ford Trophy tournament.
Kyle Jamieson's injury list
Kyle Jamieson became a household name after his lethal spell dismantled India and led New Zealand to their first-ever World Test Championship title in the inaugural edition of the competition. However, despite being talented, Jamieson's career hasn't really taken off due to frequent injury setbacks.
The 30-year-old pacer sustained a back stress fracture in June 2022 before going under the knife for the same injury. Another back injury in the same region a year later further derailed his cricketing journey, posing a significant threat to his international career. As a result, Jamieson continues to manage his workload, particularly in the longest format of the game.
Talking about Jamieson's recent performance, the New Zealand pacer bagged three wickets in two matches of the T20I series against England. However, his economy was slightly on the higher side, as he conceded runs at an economy of 9.25.
