AUS vs IND Highlights: India Disturbed By Scott Boland's Discipline With The Ball

After the news broke of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma 'opting out' of the Sydney Test, the Jasprit Bumrah-led side chose to bat on a grassy deck which pretty much back-fired as India lost their openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal early in the day for scores of 4 and 10, respectively with Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland picking one each.

The session was going fine for visitors after that until the last ball when Shubman Gill threw his wicket away to Nathan Lyon in what turned out to be an Australia-dominated session before lunch. The pitch was doing its bit, which was pretty evident as India were 57 for three at lunch.

In between, there were moments of chatter between Gill and Steve Smith, which eventually led to the former falling into the trap laid by the Aussies.

AUS vs IND Highlights: Pant Defends To Keep India Safe Until Tea

With three wickets down already, India were on the back foot when Rishabh Pant decided to play the unusual defensive game as he vowed to spend some time on the crease. However, at the other end, he lost his partner Virat Kohli at slip to Boland after getting a life early on in his innings in the same region. There was also drama between Smith and Kohli as the former caught him off but was then ruled in favour of the batter.

Pant, however, kept his cool and saw the afternoon session off with Ravindra Jadeja doing his bit with the bat. Runs were coming but rather slowly for the visitors as India reached 107 for four at tea.

The ball moving around after hitting the deck with the uneven bounce was a usual sight at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday as the Aussie pacers stunned India again. Boland claimed four, Starc three, while skipper Pat Cummins picked two to clean the visitors up for 185 as Lyon chipped in with one to his name.

Pant was the first to fall in the session after a reckless shot for 40, followed by Nitish Reddy, who perished for a golden duck. Jadeja put in some hard yards with a fighting 26 but fell too. Skipper Bumrah played a cameo with the bat, striking 22 off 17 deliveries, taking India's score to a respectable 185.

Australia were asked to bat for the remaining 15 minutes of the day and couldn't do any better as Bumrah got his bunny Usman Khawaja for the sixth time in the series after an altercation with Sam Konstas on the final delivery, ending their day with 9 for 1.
