Ravindra Jadeja dropped by Steve Smith (Source:@21OneTwo34/X.com)
Steve Smith is one of the most finest catches in slips and he hardly puts anything down. He has taken plenty of splendid catches over the years, and almost pulled off a stunning catch early on Day 1 of SCG Test to get rid of Virat Kohli.
In the second session though an easy chance came his way in the 34th over which Smith to the surprise of everyone on the ground, dropped it. It was a full delivery from 'round the wicket by Scott Boland and Jadeja tried to drive it. The ball though caught the outside edge of his blade and went straight to second slip where Steve Smith was late to react and got hit on his stomach and hand as the ball fell on the ground.
The drop catch happened after Smith controversial grab of Virat Kohli grabbed plenty of eyeballs in the opening session.
Indian Top Order Fails Again
The drop could prove costly for Australia as Jadeja has the potential to dig deep and score big runs for his side under pressure. Also, the wicket would have opened the floodgates as India are struggling after another top order failure.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first after they decided to leave out their original skipper Rohit Sharma. The conditions were overcast and with grass cover, Aussies managed to grab three wickets in the opening session. Virat Kohli then lost his wicket in the second session and India now need big partnerships in the lower middle order to help them reach a competitive first innings total.
