In a dramatic turn of events during India's clash with Australia, the dismissal of Washington Sundar sparked a heated confrontation between India's captain Jasprit Bumrah and the umpire. Sundar, who was batting at 14 off 30 balls, was dismissed in a controversial manner off Pat Cummins.
In the 67th over, Sundar attempted a pull shot but failed to connect. The ball went through to wicketkeeper Alex Carey. The Australians immediately appealed, thinking the ball touched Sundar's gloves before hitting him. They had a brief discussion and referred it to DRS for on-field umpire Joel Wilson to check.
But when the replay showed a faint murmur on the Snicko, which could have hinted at contact with the gloves, the umpires could not give a definitive decision. Nevertheless, Wilson overruled his original decision and declared Sundar out.

The Indian all-rounder stood there visibly frustrated, but had no other option but to walk back after the on-field decision was given in favour.
The contentious dismissal riled Jasprit Bumrah, who, standing at the non-striker's end, engaged in a tense conversation with Michael Gough, the third umpire. Although, Bumrah argued despite having no conclusive evidence, he still fought for his teammate as he walked up to the on-field umpire and expressed his displeasure, questioning the fairness of the decision.
Meanwhile, India ended their innings at 185 in 72.2 overs with Rishabh Pant being the top-scorer for the team.
