Jasprit Bumrah has been India's lone warrior in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy and is the leading wicket-taker with 30 wickets so far. He has done his job with the ball in varied situations and it was under him that India won the first game of the series. He is now the captain of the side in the fifth and final game and has decided to show his talent with the bat as well, scoring crucial runs lower down the order.
The Indian skipper walked out to bat with his team reduced to 148-8 and straightaway hit a boundary against Mitchell Starc. It was a wild shot where he got lucky, but then in the next over against Boland, Jasprit Bumrah slammed the pacer with four wickets in his belt straight down the ground on consecutive occassions.
Jasprit Bumrah Takes Aggressive Route After Another Batting Failure
He got two boundaries off those length deliveries and Boland lost his line and length on the third delivery, bowling way down the leg side and the ball raced away for four byes.
The boundary hitting spree and the deicison to counterattack once again shows how well Jasprit Bumrah reads the game. The pitch is difficult to bat on, and with all frontline batters back to the hut, the best chance for India to get some crucial runs is by playing aggressively and Bumrah is doing exactly that.
It is exactly how Rohit Sharma likes to play his game, and with him out of this game, the man who has replaced him as captain seem to have taken up the responsibility. Earlier, Pant played a fighting knock of 40 while Gill, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja all got starts but failed to convert it into anything substantial.
