What a fine day of cricket this from India. Plenty of runs from the top-order especially skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill who reached the three figure landmark. Rest of the batters made use of the opportunity too with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan and debutant Devdutt Padikkal all getting to their half centuries.

From the English side, wickets were hard to comeby in the first session but two wickets straighway after lunch made things slightly easier. After that, Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir bagged two and four wickets, respectively to rattle India at one stage. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav saved the day for the home side by batting till the end of the day and taking India's score to 473 with a lead of 255 runs.

That's stumps! Kuldeep negotiates the final ball of the day and India will continue batting tomorrow morning. A fine period of batting display this from Kuldeep and Bumrah who are on 27 and 19, respectively. This session goes to England for picking up five wickets.

India's lead is now 250. All thanks to this partnership between Bumrah and Kuldeep that India are at this stage. However, Kuldeep gets dropped by Ben Stokes at second gully on the next delivery off Bashir. The chance goes begging for the tourists. This helps India big time.

Bumrah and Kuldeep have been grinding it out in the middle since the fall of last wicket on 428. 34-run partnership and the patience is building up now. Last three overs remaining for the day. 12 runs in the last eight overs but that's not a concern because they are looking to play all the overs today.

What's happening to India here??? Ravichandran Ashwin cleaned up. It's Tom Hartley once again. India losing the plot now. Certainly, they are. Wickets are falling in clusters now. England making a shift back in the game. Hartley and Bashir, the enforcers. They are rattling India. All the hardwork done by the top-order batters is getting wasted now. Gone for a duck.

India's lead is now 202. That's a huge uplift for the side and they would want to get a massive lead. 250 is on the cards. They would be eying 300 now. Batting has been easy on this track and but it's still a mystery what happened to England on the same track in the first innings.

SIXX! It's fifty for debutant Devdutt Padikkal too! Everyone has scored a half-century in this game for India. For the first time, all the top five batters have scored a half-century. Smashes Shoaib Bashir down the ground with a handsome strike. Hard work evident from his confidence.

Another session that will added into India's tally. Two wickets for the English but a great comeback from the home side courtesy of Sarfaraz Khan and Devdutt Padikkal. Runs started to flow once these two entered the crease and since then, there is no looking back. India have added 112 runs in this session and they will have some good Tea! England had no hesitation in taking the new ball. Shoaib Bashir continues and gets treated with two boundaries in the over. Sarfaraz gets to his half-century. That's a fine fine knock from the batter in his third Test. Also, his third half-century. Just 55 balls is all he has taken in this innings.

There were words between the two after the end of last over and it played on the mind of Gill. The ball reverses back to knock over the off-stump of Gill. Ben Stokes! Lemme take that name again! It's Ben Stokes! He was back into the attack after a gap of almost eight months and he delivers with the wicket of well-set Rohit Sharma on the very first delivery after his comeback with the ball. You beauty! That moved away from the Indian skipper and English skipper on fire. Rohit back in the hut for 102.

A single to get to his 12th Test Hundred, Rohit Sharma, you're a champion. Rohit was in no mood to get back to the pavilion without getting to his century. His second of the series. He has done that time and time again.

We are all set for the live-action to begin. The players are making their way out to the middle. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill walk out to resume their knocks for India, with the former taking the strike. Shoaib Bashir will start the day's proceedings with the ball for England.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will begin the proceedings for India on Day 2 - so that we could bat England out of the game. However, the first hour of the first session will be crucial, especially against Jimmy Anderson.

After the Kuldeep Yadav-Ravi Ashwin show, the ball was in Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal's court. And the Indian opener didn't let the English slide away with that. The made sure India remaining in the cruising seat, putting 104-run partnership for the first wicket. Eventually, Jaiswal was done Shoaib Bashir only after the young opener could get to his fifty, along with completing 700 runs in the series and 1000 Test runs overall in his career.

Day 1 of this hugely-anticipated with it being the 100th Test for Ravichandran Ashwin and Bairstow. However, as the day came towards its shed, Kuldeep Yadav and the 100-Test match off-spinner emerged as the heroes as they bundled out England for 218.
