Kuldeep Yadav weaved his magic by picking up a sensational five-wicket haul that steered India to a dominant position against England on the opening day of the fifth Test match in Dharamsala.

The left-arm wrist spinner's remarkable figures of 5/72 not only decimated the English batting lineup, limiting them to a paltry total of 218, but also etched his name into cricketing history.

Kuldeep became the fastest Indian to 50 Test wickets in terms of balls

Kuldeep Yadav shattered records to become the fastest bowler in the Indian team to clinch 50 Test wickets, achieving the feat in a mere 1871 deliveries, outpacing his teammates Axar Patel (2205 balls) and Jasprit Bumrah (2520 balls).

This landmark achievement marked the first occasion an Indian bowler has reached the 50 Test wickets milestone in fewer than 2000 balls.

The stage in Dharamsala bore witness to a mesmerising performance as Kuldeep played a massive role in England's downfall.

Despite a promising start from the visitors, India's spin arsenal, led by Kuldeep and ably supported by Ravichandran Ashwin in his 100th Test match, proved too formidable. Ashwin, not far behind, grabbed 4/51, sharing the spoils with Kuldeep as the duo spun a web around the English batsmen.

Meanwhile, with India taking to the crease, openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal laid a solid foundation with a swift 104-run partnership in just 20.4 overs.

Rohit remained unbeaten at 52, while Jaiswal's quick-fire 57 further consolidated India's commanding stance in the match. The duo's efforts propelled India to a comfortable 135 for one at stumps, trailing by just 83 runs and setting the stage for a substantial first-innings lead.
