Both Team India and Rohit Sharma are in the controlling seat as the hosts are taking the match away from England in Dharamsala on Day 2. The Indian skipper, who is running towards his second century of the tour, began the day by flaunting his prowess with a maximum over long-on off Shoaib Bashir's bowling.

Rohit Sharma started the day with a score of 52*, and just after adding one more run to his overnight tally, he began his assault.

Bashir, who started the day with the ball alongside Jimmy Anderson, dished a half-volley well outside off. The veteran Indian was quick on the opportunity as he picked the variation off the bowler's arm itself to slog it into the stands.

The Rohit Sharma-Shoaib Bashir battle didn't end with that sixer, as both players won one bout each later in the session. Rohit followed the six with a boundary, but Bashir almost had the last laugh if not for a drop by Zak Crawley at leg slip when Rohit Sharma was batting at 68.

Nevertheless, Rohit and Shubman Gill are matching each other stroke to stroke, smashing the English bowlers in all corners of the park. The duo has shared 102 runs between them and is heading towards their respective Test centuries.

At the time of publishing, the Indian skipper is batting at 80 not out, and Gill is at 65*. India, meanwhile, are at 206-1, just 12 runs behind England's first-innings score.
