In a heartwarming news, Hindustan Times reported that India captain Rohit Sharma and wife Ritika Sajdeh were blessed with a baby boy on November 15, 2024. The couple were expecting their second child due to which Rohit is set to miss Perth Test against Australia.

Rohit Sharma, India's Test captain, wasn't a part of the Indian contingent that travelled to Australia last week to participate in the 5-game Border-Gavaskar Test series. The first Test is scheduled at Perth from November 22, and warm-ups are in full swing as the team played an intra-squad game earlier today at WACA ground in Perth.

That being said, Rohit Sharma is believed to skip the first Test as he informed the BCCI well in advance about his personal commitments. That commitment turned out to be the birth of his second child.

Rohit Sharma-Ritika welcomes baby boy!

Rohit Sharma's wife Rititka Sajdeh was pregnant and as per Hindustan Times, she gave birth to a baby boy on Friday, November 15 in Mumbai. The couple was previously blessed with a baby girl named Samaria in 2018. After 6 years, they welcomed a second baby and to embrace parenthood, Rohit stayed back home and will continue to be with his family to celebrate the joyous occasion.

Notably, Rohit Sharma hasn't rested for a day despite being on paternity leave. He was spotted training in whites a few days ago. Rohit is expected to rejoin the team for the second Test scheduled at Adelaide Oval from December 6-10.

In his absence, Jasprit Bumrah is confirmed to lead the side in Perth Test with KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran replacing him as opening partner to Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Notably, KL Rahul suffered an injury during the intra-squad game and left the field midway. However, reports confirm that Rahul is fit to play the Perth Test, and his abrupt exit was a precautionary measure.
