As the Indian team prepares for the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, there is still no clarity when will Indian captain Rohit Sharma join the rest of the team in Australia. Despite not traveling with the rest of the squad, the 37-year-old was actively training in Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma has opted to remain in Mumbai for now to attend to personal commitments, particularly to be with his family for the birth of his second child.

“There is no clarity yet on his (Rohit Sharma) departure. It all depends on how things unfold on the personal front. He is doing what any father would at this stage, which is to stay with his wife and family. But at the same time, he is ensuring to be well-tuned for the Test series and will be batting at every possible opportunity in Mumbai,” says a source told TOI.

Rohit Sharma Prepares Himself With Rigorous Net Session

According to the reports of Times of India, the star batter was seen in rigorous practice sessions at the Reliance Corporate Park (RCP) and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) ground.

According to the same reports, Rohit Sharma is determined to stay match-ready and has been utilising every available opportunity to hit the nets so that he can make a strong comeback after having a disappointing outing with the bat against New Zealand recently.

On Tuesday, Rohit was spotted at the RCP nets, he was engaged in a lengthy batting session where he worked on honing his stroke play and fitness. By using the facilities available in Mumbai, it is worthing mentioning that Rohit is ensuring that he remains in prime form, should he decide to travel to Australia at the last minute.

It is important to note that, the Indian team along with head coach Gautam Gambhir, has already arrived in Perth in two batches on November 10 and 11 and have started closed-door training sessions in Perth.
