Even before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India have been jolted with a massive Rohit Sharma news. As per reports, he is going to miss the first Test match in Perth, starting on November 22, and there is no confirmation on his availability for the remainder of the tour.
Rohit is one of the key players for India in Tests and his absence will surely be felt as the visitors look to win the series, Down Under for the third successive time. Interestingly, there is still no clarity from the team management on Rohit's availability and this had come up as a surprise for many.
Why is Rohit Sharma not playing in BGT 2024-25?
Speculations have begun that Rohit Sharma and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh are expecting their second child, and as a result, Rohit hasn't travelled with the squad for the first Test. Reports are also circulating that he'll be available for the second Test match as a WTC finale place is on the line for India.
Head coach Gambhir looks clueless on Rohit's availability
On the day of flying to Australia, head coach Gautam Gambhir attended the press conference and talked about Rohit's availability.
“There is no confirmation. We'll let you know. Hopefully, he’ll be available. Everything you’ll get to know by the start of the series.”
On one side, reports are that Rohit will be available from the second Test, however, Gambhir, the head coach still has no clue about his arrival time.
