A bizarre viral image claiming that Australian star, Ellyse Perry, proposed to Babar Azam has been circulating all over social media, and it has taken the internet by storm. The photo was shared online a couple of days ago, where Perry kneeled down and proposed to Pakistan batter Babar in front of a live audience.

This viral photo made the fans excited, especially in Pakistan, but is the image real? Did Perry really propose to Babar in front of the spectators?

The reality of image showcasing Perry's proposal to Babar

The viral image that spread like wildfire showcases Ellyse Perry down on her knees, with a ring in hand, and a smiling Babar looking at the Australian superstar. The photo garnered millions of views within an hour as fans started to speculate about a potential relationship between the two cricketers.

However, after careful observation, the fans were eventually left disappointed as it was clearly AI-generated, and interestingly, at the time the photo went viral, Perry was not even in Australia, as the player was in New Zealand, taking part in Super Smash

Unnatural lighting on the face, a mismatched crowd, and Perry’s face clearly pixelated - pointed towards an AI-generated image designed for going viral amongst the cricket fanatics.

Perry playing in Super Smash, Babar taking part in BBL

During the time the photo went viral, both Perry and Babar were in different countries as the Australian cricketer was representing the Wellington Women in Super Smash, while Babar was taking part in the BBL 2025-26, playing for the Sixers.

Perry was set to take part in the WPL 2026 season, representing the RCB side, but she pulled out of the event at the last moment due to personal reasons. Babar, on the other hand is playing in the BBL to get his T20 mojo back before the World Cup.

Babar's poor BBL season for Sydney Sixers

Babar was signed by the Sixers as the franchise hoped for a solid performance from the Pakistan player. However, things went downhill right from match one as his strike-rate came under scrutiny.

In 8 matches in the BBL, Babar has racked up 154 runs, including two fifties, but the biggest issue has been his strike rate, which lingers around at just 104.05, which is one of the worst in the ongoing tournament. Babar was urged to work on his strike rate in the BBL, but he has failed to rectify his mistakes.
